Marion-Crawford Prevention Programs
The Board contracts with Marion Area Counseling Center to provide substance abuse prevention programming for elementary age youth in Marion County. The Board also funds prevention services for Marion and Crawford Counties for students in grades 6 through 12.
Prevention services are provided by Prevention Specialists and include the development and coordination of alcohol and other drug prevention programs; implementation of prevention program goals and objectives; coordination of programs to reduce unnecessary duplication of community alcohol and other drug prevention services; community education programs to professionals in education, human services and alcohol and other drug treatment, and coordination of a Teen Advisory Board and all county-wide and school based Teen Institute activities.
In Marion County, the ADAMH Board was the fortunate recipient of a State Incentive Grant through the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. This grant provided an opportunity to bring together the Marion community to plan and implement research-based substance abuse prevention programs. In the second year of funding, the SIG has provided funding for students in Grant Middle School to receive the Life Skills Training curriculum and the Strengthening Families family program.
In both Crawford and Marion Counties, the Board receives Tobacco Grant funds for additional programming.
In Crawford County schools are awarded grants to fund AToD prevention activities during the school year. Prevention services include Parent-to-Parent, a parenting education program providing appropriate parenting skills to parents of teens, Red Ribbon, Prom Promise and graduation activities.
